Vertical Video

Vertical video is a bad idea because you don't use your full screen when looking at it in any video player that uses a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. Videos are usually shot horizontally because that's more natural for us to look at, and it's been like that since the beginning of film. Nowadays, the standard aspect ratio when watching a video through a video player, is 16:9, for example, the resolution for 1080p video is 1920 x 1200(a 16:9 format).  The ratio is 16:9 not 9:16 so that is why we shouldn't shoot vertical. I have shot a vertical video before, simply because apps like Snapchat or Instagram favor a vertical video and make it easier for people to watch and shoot one. I only have shot in vertical format when I know that the video will not be used in any other way of viewing.
