Unsafe Situations


There was one time when I was teaching someone how to do a back flip. When I was helping them with it, I would count down then spot them and help them go back over their head. One time however, the person thought that they could do it by themselves and went straight for it. They messed up and fell on their head/shoulder, which leg to a fractured collarbone. He also hurt his toe when he landed. This situation did not make me feel good because I was in charge of him and he was doing really well but then he injured himself and could no longer do it. What went wrong is that he went when I didn't tell him to and when I was too far away to spot him. I could have been closer to him and also made it sure that he wouldn't go before I told him to.

Raiders of the Lost Arc Editing

I noticed that in the boulder scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark, the editing was very fast paced and had a lot of cuts. This style of editing is used to provoke an emotion of intensity. When he was running through the hall back to the entrance, the constant cut after cut made it so that the viewer felt anxious and had them wondering if Indiana Jones would make it or not. This played a key role in opening the film because it expressed the feeling that would be provoked throughout the movie and it also showed the first trait of the main character. It showed that Indiana Jones was daring and how he could get himself out of danger no matter what.

Final Look Back...

Dear Connor, Your future self just completed the school year at SVCTE. It will be a challenging, but really fun year for you. Make sure you plan out all your work ahead of time, and don't wait until the last minute to do something. Also, know that you work a lot and don't set unreasonable expectations. Know your time constraints. Your experience here is going to be lots of fun with the people you met in this class.You will also become a better storyteller and will be proficient in premiere pro/handling a camera. Be prepared for long shoots, but don't be discouraged. I warn you to keep an open mind and be positive towards your work. Also, be careful with your head and don't get a concussion. Lav Mics

Lavaliers are omnidirectional microphones and are really useful for news reporters, interviews, etc. They are able to be hidden in shirts and jackets in order to get some crisp, high quality sound. They are very light microphones, so it is easy to attach to your talent. I want more clarification on the loop that is used when setting up the lav mic.
